Default My Hopes For Chapter X

So far a lot of Guild Wars (C1, C2) (includding what we have seen of Nightfall) has been a lot of Really nice imagery, or dark places... well, As dark as they could make it, Post Searing Ascalon is just plain ugly and the Esc. Forest Is actually really nice. The Warren is amazing, and the Scenery around the Keingn City is really well made and even has its own beauty to it.

It just seems that everywhere you go around there is this glowing hue which makes everything stand out as beauiful, No matter how horrib it is supposed to be, or represent.

Which is nice... But it makes it somewhat childish. And this is a 13+ game. ("Get Your kai Saign hands off of me" !?) ( COME ONE! Said AT LEAST "Damn it")

In furtur Chapters I'd like to see something dark. Something Really dark. 13th Century black plague with dark black - purple skies and rolling thunder Dark. Trees dying due to lack of sunlight Dark. "Army of Darkness" and its prequels Dark. (Minus the comedy)

Nightmare on Elm Street when it was Originally Screened Dark.

"Alone in the Dark II" Dark.

Dark Darkest Darko - Dark.

Factions wasn't dark, it was over exagerated.

I Hope NC Soft Reads this and takes it into concideration. I for one, Am tired of Seeing Rolling Hills and Meddoes, Thoes have there place - in Pre Searing.

Don't get me wrong, what was made is made and is beautifully well made, and I can't wait to see NightFall, heck, I allready Purchased "mine CE."

I just would really like a change of scenery and FEEL of setting.

Dark - Dark.

Added (yes Double Posting, Sorry) I Do realize that nighfall means "no more sun" And hey, If NC realized what I have said aswell, Hey All the Better. I'm Just Saying From what We have Seen So Far of Nightfall it looks like more Beautifull scenery "joyeus" Scenery.

I remember reading something about places that *could* resemble your imagination in several previews and magazines. They said Nighfall was going to have some areas filled with dead body parts and "insect parts" and eyes on the walls watching you, trying to "play with your primal fears".
Probably not dark enough yet, but maybe a step closer.

As far as actual dark screens/zones, remember that it needs to work on everyone's PC and I've had a couple of guildies that due to video card or monitor just couldn't make their way thru the pre-sear catacombs without a guide, everything was that dark for them.

One I later teamed with in Sorrows Furnace wasn't so bad there's a lot of glowy fires and such I guess.

I also remember one of them finally getting a new PC or an upgrade and exclaiming how much better everything looked and he could function in those places much better.

So unless some light source for characters is included dark areas need to be made to accomodate various compatible hardware, not to mention perhaps people that play with some vision troubles.

I liked a lot of the environments in the guildwars game. Post Ascalon was my favorite, the look of destruction everywhere and then the huge crystal outside of the sererity temple was my favorite place. K Center fit, it was dirty, really dirty and that is the feeling I got from it. The only environments I have a problems with are the Magumma Jungle, it is suppose to be a jungle and a lot of the areas in it are desert, whats up with that? and then the Kurzic forest, it is suppose to be a forest and there are trees every 2 miles or so, definately not enough to be a forest. Jade sea was perfect though .

Turn your monitor's brightness down and... voila! Dark! Seriously though, more of the catacombs-style environment would be nice.

Which is one of the reaons why theres a thread calling for the ability to return to pre-sear in here every other month.

Pre-Sear is, imho, still the best area in the game as far as looks, versatility and that good ole dark dungeon. I think the designers played in there for a year before they tried to sell the idea to NCSoft.

There are a few spots in Factions like that *cough*Urgoz/Deep*cough* but they just don't have that fresh corpse necro feel that the combs did.

When I watched the Prophecies intro vid before installing it I was hoping so much that the actual game would be as cool as the vid in that you could go solo in most places or if need be take a couple of people along, not like parties of 8 or whatever, and overall make the game into your own personal adventure (sounds cheesy, but that's the impression the vid gave me). Not to mention the amazing location in the vid. But I think my disappointment's over: once NF is released I'm makin a Dervish, then the last spot is gettin saved for a pre-searing character and/or to mess around with, because I don't want to limit myself like I feel I have now.

PS. I laughed so much at the complete crap the NPC's talk: "I serve Cantha, not that Huu Na Mang!" and "Get your hands off me, Ah Sang Beh!" .
